Until I upgraded to TeX Live 2021, I was very happy with Mark Wibrow's train tracks. However, under TeX Live 2021, I get very strange behavior; the code from his answer now typesets as the following.

https://tex.stackexchange.com/landing/r/digest?cta=question&id=603995

Writing a path in a graph as $a-b-c$ will not typeset as nicely as $a\text{-}b\text{-}c$, so I'm trying to create a macro that performs some string substitution. I tried using xstring, but ...

7.42.1.3 How to replace \not by \centernot?

https://tex.stackexchange.com/landing/r/digest?cta=question&id=604384

I noticed that LaTeX places the slash created by \not weirdly, e.g. in \not\ni. Using \centernot from package centernot looks nice, but for reasons outside of this scope I have no control over the ...

https://tex.stackexchange.com/landing/r/digest?cta=question&id=604068

This is a follow up question to this comment. How can I make campa's code for TeXbook's bend symbol work with the theorem environment?
Consider the following LaTeX code which I saved in a file called ...

https://tex.stackexchange.com/landing/r/digest?cta=question&id=604536

when the length \mathsurround takes a non-zero value, and when some packages (array, tabularx, and others) are used, a space equal to \mathsurround is inserted on both sides of the table.
Why such a ...

I would like to write letters in math mode, that is in italic, into proofs without using a lot of \textit{} (by the way, $$ doesn't work into proofs environment).
