I have a TeX file that was created, edited and compiled by another person using WinEdt. I now want to keep writing on it using TexMaker, but when I open it with this new editor, these strange symbols ...

Using XeLaTeX under TeXShop 4.52 on MacOS 10.13.6, the following error occurs. The command \includegraphics[width=w]{myPic.jpg} (with an appropriate value of w) almost always displays myPic correctly, ...
