Whenever I write, 
${{\dot y}^a}^\top$ 
I will receive a double superscript error. 
But {{\dot y}^a}^\top  is perfectly parsed. I don't understand why there would be an error at all. Please help!

I often find myself typing equations into a node of a tikz picture. I then often find that I want to isolate certain characters in the equation and define them as a node.

I am trying to write a macro \RR, allowing me to type \mathbb{R} in text, with an optional parameter for an exponent. The desired functionality is shown below:
