Edit: @kabenyuk suggestion in the comments to use everyglpreamble = \setstretch{1} solved the first issue, see the image below. But the second issue persists. The space between 'b' and 'c' is greater ...

I wanted to have a better looking centered dot in words for gendered-neutral expressions in French, and the simplest solution that suited me was replacing it by $\cdot$: un$cdot$e dA~(c)velopeur$\cdot$se.
