How can I align both the \pm and the \times sign in a S column (column 3)? I manage to align either the \pm (column 1) or the \times (column 2) sign.

Sometimes I put a \sqrt in an exponential. 
I'm curious why \sqrt needs to be grouped by either curly braces or \bgroup ... \egroup, but when I do it without curly braces (or with \begingroup ... \...
