Suddenly, I'm getting this error message when using newtx: 
Improper `at' size (0.0pt), replaced by 10pt. 
Here is a minimal example where this happens: 
\documentclass[12pt]{article} 
\usepackage{newtx} 
... 
[fonts] [newtx]
