Is it considered bad style to write:
x^2, 2^\frac{1}{2} and 2^\sqrt{2} (without curly brackets around the superscript)
instead of:
x^{2}, 2^{\frac{1}{2}} and 2^{\sqrt{2}}?
The same for subscripts.
