9.15.3.1 acmart package: forcing certain number of authors into the first row

Is there a way to force a certain number of authors per row in acmart? I am aware there is this command: \settopmatter{authorsperrow=4}; however, I would like to force the first row to only contain 2 ...

9.15.3.2 fmtcount problem after polyglossia update

I'm seeing strange behaviour in a package (cooking-units) that internally uses fmtcount to convert numbers to their respective names. The same problem also occurs when using fmtcount directly.
