There seem to be a whopping align, aligned, alignedat, alignat, xalignat, xxalignat and falign in amsmath / mathtools - some also in there starred version. 
I just find sloppy statements like:

I want to use phoenician letters (unicode range 0x10900 to 0x1091F) as variable names. (If your browser font supports them, these are the characters: eth\220\[Currency]\202,eth\220\[Currency]\201,eth\220\[Currency]\200, and so on.)

When entering Chinese in a table, despite trying to limit the column size with p{5cm}, the phrase isn't going to the line below.

In optics, the "dioptre" unit's symbol is I^\264 (lowercase delta). As long as I don't use unicode-math, the following code gives the expected result, but with it, the unit is missing in the ...
