To my eternal horror a^\200\223 reading a remark by egreg to some other post a^\200\223 I discovered that LaTeX 3 has been incorporated in the standard LaTeX kernel since 2020.  I had missed it completely.  Blame the ...

\Big{(a + b \Big)}^2  % yikes, note the order of the brackets! 
\] 
\end{document} 
compiles to 
How so? Shouldn't it be 
{\Big(a + b \...

I have a 300+ page thesis and I constantly used $\mu$, which showcases mu in italic format. Now my supervisor wants me to correct this to non-italic. I do not want to change each one-by-one, therefore ...

Saying 
\count89=14 \the\count89~{\count89=11 \the\count89~}\the\count89 
produces 14 11 14, as one would expect. But, get rid of the space in the middle clause: 
\count89=14 \the\count89~{\count89=11\...
