I have tried \mathcal{J}, \jmath, \textctj, \mathscr{J}, and \mathfrak{J}, but none of them worked.

I was wondering if it was possible to lower the exponent on a variable in the numerator or a fraction (like the one in the image below) to make it consistent with the height of one in the denominator. ...

I tried to make some music excerpts with two instruments using musixtex. I've got some alignment problems between the two instruments. 
Here's an example:

After looking up the PGF manual, I think the picture above might be drawn by using the \clip command and \usetikzlibrary{patterns}. 
I have an easier example as follows:

I'm trying to plot height lines of a function of the form $H(x,y)=y^2+u(x)$, by taking multiple plots of $\pm\sqrt{c-u(x)}$. The problem is that for some values $c$ the domain is tricky and not easily ...
