With Maple 5.1 under Solaris 7, I get the following bus error:
$ uname -a SunOS vin 5.7 Generic_106541-09 sun4u sparc SUNW,Ultra-5_10 $ maple -s |\^/| Maple V Release 5.1 (Ens Lyon) ._|\| |/|_. Copyright (c) 1981-1998 by Waterloo Maple Inc. Can anyone else reproduce this? Is it a known bug? ...
Note: I need the above 4 commands to produce the bus error.
I get the bus error more simply.

I’ve found that invoking help pages from command-line Maple is a risky business. Sometimes it works, but other times it results in a crash. If the first command in the session is a help request the result (at least on this computer, this afternoon, with my .mapleinit file) is always a crash. It doesn’t matter which help page it is (or even whether the help topic exists).
For the next version of Solaris:
capella$ uname -a SunOS capella 5.8 Generic sun4u sparc
on our Solaris 8 Test-Computer your problem works. May-be your computer can be updated ?

I tried your simple example as well with maple5.1 and maple6 on Solaris 2.6 and 2.8 and got no problems. May-be some one else got those probleme especially with Solaris 2.7?
